Wow, already into Autumn where did that time go? We apologise for the lack of latest news recently, here at HQ its been super busy and there doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day! You can always check out our facebook page for the latest updates…..  https://www.facebook.com/emily.groom.room/

So the biggest news we have is the success of our second Fun Dog Show which took place on Sunday 18th September, the weather man was incredibly kind to us and despite trying to rescue gazebo’s on a rather blustery Saturday, the Sunday was absolutely perfect! Not only were we lucky with the weather but also lucky that people came to support us.  There were tails wagging through out the day, people laughing and children enjoying themselves; what more could we ask for! It was a fantastic day with over 200 entries in the Fun Dog Show, a vast amount of entries in the fun gun dog scurry and temptation alley, dogs and their owners testing their ability over a fun agility course, delicious food and entertaining displays! We would really like to thank everyone that came and made the days such a huge success! Also a huge thank you to all of our stall holders, volunteers, behind the scenes family team of organising, the kind sponsors of Watts in the Box and Razzamatazz for sponsoring our dog show classes and all the kind donations from others towards the raffle and tombola. All of this, has allowed us to raise a fantastic £500 for Ferne Animal Sanctuary!! Once again, a massive thank you everyone!

Our other big news is, back in July we were overwhelmed, as Emily’s Groom Room won Best Business Website 2016 in the Western Gazette Business awards! Who would have thought that a moment of madness of entering the competition, would lead to being selected as a finalist, having to get dolled up with the Husband and attending a very swanky black tie event for the awards! Even when the finalists were being announced at the event, I was so sure we wouldn’t win that I had taken my shoes off under the table, and yes you can imagine the shock I was in, and then the thumbling around to get my shoes on and make the walk of fame in high heels worn like flip flops-not my finest moment I have to say, but definitely a moment I will not be forgetting! The award now lives in Emily’s Groom Room as a welcome reminder of what we have achieved!

As if we didn’t have enough on our plates, on my occasional Sunday off, I decided I would test my skills out by competing in my first grooming competition! So at the end of the summer we took a long journey up to Coventry (its a long way for us Somerset Girls) to take part in Premier Groom.  One of my lovely customers was kind enough to let me borrow their very handsome Cockerpoo Archie, who was an absolute star for such a young boy in a very exciting atmosphere! It was a nerve wracking experience, but a thoroughly enjoyable one! I know it may seem mad, but having over 2 hours to concentrate on grooming one dog is unheard of nowadays! No phone ringing or another dog waiting-absolute bliss! We didn’t get placed, but the feedback was valuable and the main purpose was to improve my skills! Watch this space for our next one…… Well maybe!
